Tuesdays with Morrie
The Pilot's Wife

Man's Search for Meaning
Half- way to meeting my goal of 10 new books this year!
I've been running on the treadmill at the YMCA and was so excited to hit the 3 mile mark two weeks ago. I'm planning on a 5K in the next month or two.
Reading my scriptures for 5 minutes a day is going pretty well. I miss a day here and there, but it feels good to finally be in that habit again! Now I just need to keep it up.
As far as service goes, well I was off to a good start this year...I sewed baby blankets, burp cloths, and bibs for a local group called Newborns in Need. I really enjoyed it. Then the sewing machine I was borrowing moved away with my sister-in-law, so I've been slacking in the service department. I've got some stuff in the basement to work on, but it's just sitting right now. Gotta get on it!

Love It, Hate It
AVON Solutions Total Radiance Day/Night Cream--It feels so good on the skin and it smells great too! I look forward to putting it on twice a day. :)
Ritz Brown Sugar and Cinnamon Crackers--Very tasty! A nice twist to the original Ritz.
And now for something I disliked recently (hate is too strong a word)...
The children's book "Too small for honey cake". I don't even remember who wrote it, but I tried hiding it after only reading it to my toddler a few times because of what she picked up from it. The storyline is your typical Big brother fox has a new baby brother and he doesn't like the new baby. I understand that is is a normal part of life and the way the Big brother fox acts in the book is true to what happens sometimes, but in the book he calls the baby a "stinky pooh baby" and then sings this song about his "stinky pooh baby". My toddler started calling our baby a "stinky pooh baby" and although it may be slightly funny, I was not thrilled about her picking that up from that story book. That book gets two thumbs down from me.

The Purpose of this Blog
I’ve decided to start another blog…this one is mostly just for me. I was initially inspired by the movie Julie and Julia. I loved the idea of choosing a project and blogging about it. Rather than one large project, my blog will be focused on several smaller projects and goals that I am working on. I’ve set some “new year’s resolutions” that I’m pretty excited about, so I thought it was a good place for this blog to start.
This year’s goals include:
Run a 5K
Read 10 new books
Take more time for service (I know this is broad, but I haven’t decided exactly how I want to make this goal measurable yet.)
Read the Book of Mormon for 5 minutes a day (Initially I was planning on making my “spiritual” goal more along the lines of reading general conference talks and articles from the Ensign on a daily basis. I started doing this a couple of months back and have LOVED doing it, but since I serve in the Young Women's program and we challenge the girls to read from the Book of Mormon 5 minutes a day, I thought I ought to take on that challenge too. I hope to continue my frequent reading of the words of our latter-day leaders, but am not setting a specific goal in that area for now.)
I hope to use this blog as a means of documenting the things I learn, my thoughts, feelings, experiences, and my progress. Here it goes!
